Taipei Tech Southbound Elite Training Program is an intensive, five-month residential program at the National Taipei University of Technology (Taipei Tech). Sponsored by Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it focuses on high-tech training in semiconductors and AI, combined with immersive Chinese language and cultural studies.

Financial Benefits (Fully Funded)

The program is designed as a full scholarship to attract the brightest technical talent from the Indo-Pacific region:

  • Accommodation: On-campus housing provided or subsidized (up to NT$12,000/month).
  • Monthly Stipend: NT$10,000 for living expenses.
  • Course Fees: Full tuition waiver for AI, Semiconductor, and Mandarin courses.
  • Insurance: Comprehensive student insurance (NT$3,300 value).
  • Extras: Fully subsidized industry field trips and enterprise visits (e.g., TSMC).

Academic Tracks & Curriculum

The program balances technical rigor with cultural immersion. Participants earn official credits and a completion certificate.

  1. Semiconductor Technology: Covers IC design, electronic materials, and fabrication processes at one of the world’s leading semiconductor hubs.
  2. Artificial Intelligence: Includes machine learning, big data analytics, and modern AI application frameworks.
  3. Mandarin Chinese: Taught by the Taipei Tech Chinese Language Training Center (CLTC), focusing on conversational skills and character recognition.
  4. Industry Exposure: Direct visits to the Hsinchu Science Park and tours of leading tech enterprises to see “The Silicon Shield” in action.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Target Countries: India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, Brunei, Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos, Australia, and New Zealand.
  • Academic Level: Current Sophomore, Junior, or Senior undergraduate students. (Master’s students are sometimes considered depending on the specific year’s MOFA guidelines).
  • Language: While no formal IELTS/TOEFL is required, you must demonstrate a high level of English proficiency to succeed in the technical courses.
  • Restrictions: You cannot hold a passport from Taiwan, China, Hong Kong, or Macau, nor can you be a current recipient of other Taiwan government aid.
